How can a Goan obtain Portuguese Citizenship?
For many years during the
period in which India was being ruled by the British, the hot shot tourist
destination Goa, was being ruled by the Portuguese. The Portugal sovereignty
lasted long after the British rule ended, till 1961. When the Portuguese rule
ended, many Goans were forcefully made to leave Goa and had to let go of all

grandchild of Portuguese nationals who were born in Goa before 1961, you can
apply for Portuguese
Passport Renewal. As long as your parents were born in Goa during the
time when the Portuguese were in power, you are eligible to get Portugal
citizenship even though you may be born in a completely different country. Even
the death of a person can not stop one from getting a Portuguese Passport. In such a
case, the deceased’s descendants can submit the application. Marital status can
also help you get a Portuguese nationality if you are married to a citizen of
Portugal.
What are the documents
required?
You required to have valid birth
certificate giving proof of your date and place of birth. A valid and attested
marriage certificate is required in case you are married which specifies the
date and place of your marriage.
